What is GS1 Sunrise
The 1D barcode hasn't changed since 1974. Retailers are replacing it with a 2D QR that resolves to a regulator-ready product page. Here's what's coming.
2027 deadline
Walmart, Tesco, Carrefour, Lidl, Kaufland and Aldi have committed to scanning 2D codes at point of sale by ~2027. Producers without a GS1 Digital Link page risk delisting.
One code, many uses
GS1 Digital Link encodes the GTIN plus optional batch, expiry, and serial inside a single web-resolvable URL. The till reads it. The consumer opens it. No duplicate codes on packaging.
Adoption gap
Most GS1 members haven't implemented 2D barcodes yet. The producers who claim their cqr.cx page now land in retailers' first-cohort programs — and ship to shelves on day one.
What you get
Your free cqr.cx product page covers every consumer-facing regulation FMCG producers worry about — without a CMS, a developer, or a packaging redesign meeting.

Your product at cqr.cx/01/{GTIN}/ — the actual GS1 Digital Link spec format.
EU FIC 1169/2011 nutrition
Full per-100g table with energy, macros, fibre, salt — formatted per regulation.

How it works
A short form or a spreadsheet. Nutrition, allergens, ingredients, packaging materials. We handle Nutri-Score and carbon-footprint math.
cqr.cx/01/{GTIN}/ goes live. You get a print-ready vector QR for packaging artwork — plus a PNG for online product listings.
Every scan is a data point. NPS ratings, comments, scan locations — flow into your kazva.bg dashboard in real time.
For retailers
By 2027, the 1D barcodes on every shelf are being replaced by GS1 Digital Link QR codes. We help retailers prepare — at the till, in the warehouse, and inside your data warehouse. Quick chat?
Frequently asked
GS1 Sunrise is the global retail initiative to replace traditional 1D barcodes (EAN/UPC) on product packaging with 2D QR codes that resolve to GS1 Digital Link URLs by 2027. Major retailer consortia — Walmart, Tesco, Carrefour, Lidl, Kaufland, Aldi — have set Sunrise dates around late 2027. Producers who miss the deadline risk losing shelf presence or having to print and ship duplicate codes during the transition.
A GS1 Digital Link URL embeds your product's GTIN (and optionally batch/lot, expiry, serial number) into a web-resolvable URL of the form `cqr.cx/01/{GTIN}/`. The same QR code that scans at point-of-sale also opens the consumer-facing product page. One code, many use cases — POS, traceability, recall, consumer information.
You need to add a GS1-compliant 2D barcode (QR with the GS1 Digital Link URI inside it) to your packaging. Existing 1D barcodes can stay during the transition window. cqr.cx provides the URL plus a print-ready QR vector you hand to your packaging supplier — no other artwork change required.
A regular QR code encodes any URL. A GS1 Digital Link QR code encodes a structured URI that includes GS1 identifiers (GTIN, batch, expiry, serial). This means it is readable by both consumers (open the URL in a browser) AND retail systems (parse the GS1 identifiers for POS scanning, traceability, recall management).
Yes. cqr.cx pages are static HTML with no tracking cookies. The optional feedback widget (powered by kazva.bg) is anonymous and cookieless. Pages are hosted in Cloudflare's EU data centers (Frankfurt, Madrid) by default. No consumer is identified or tracked across visits.
The basic product page is free — GTIN resolver, EU FIC 1169/2011 nutrition table, Nutri-Score badge, allergens, packaging codes, carbon footprint, DPP-ready badge. The paid tier adds the kazva.bg consumer-feedback analytics dashboard (NPS trends, driver analysis, monthly executive reports), multilingual content, and custom domain branding.
Start free. Claim your cqr.cx/01/{GTIN}/ page in minutes. As your scans accumulate, upgrade to a kazva.bg account to read the consumer feedback (anonymous NPS, comments, scan geography). Your product page stays free forever — only the analytics layer is paid. No vendor lock-in.
EU ESPR 2024/1781 introduces a Digital Product Passport requirement for many product categories from 2027 onwards (textiles, batteries, electronics, construction first; food likely to follow). cqr.cx pages already include DPP-ready data fields — manufacturer, materials, recycling, carbon footprint. When DPP standards finalize for your product category, we will add format-specific exports automatically.
